Oh my Seoul

I am moving to South Korea August 14th, 2009. I will become a resident of Gunpo in the Gyeonggi Province about 15 miles south of the city of Seoul. The population of Gunpo is approximately 244,000, so I am fortunate to be placed in a smaller, less intimadating city. The city itself is surrounded by mountains with one mountain in the center of the city. It would be like Stone Mountain located here in Georgia and sky scrapers surrounding it. There is great hiking trails surrounding the area and some very old temples and ruins of past Confucian history. There are many waterfalls, one is artifical and famous throughout Asia and great gardens designed by monks. The city is linked to Seoul by subway trains and is halfway between Seoul and another major city. I will be very near the sea on the Western side of the country. About a 30 minute ride, I'm guessing. If I decide to go to the "real" beaches, then I can take a train 3 hours south to Busan. I think this is going to be a great opportunity. I am very excited and look forward to hearing from you all. As most of you know I am obsessed with stationary, so expect some letters dependent on the cost of stamps in Korea. I love you guys. In this time of preparation I hope to spend time with all of you. I'll be posting more information about my future city!
