Okay, here we go with the BIG ANNOUNCEMENT!
We had our "FREE" 20 week 4D ultrasound on Derek's 29th birthday. We could not have been happier to hear that baby Fekkes is measuring three days advanced weight and length, healthy and whole. We asked our sonographer to keep the gender a secret by writing baby Fekkes' gender on paper and sealing it in an envelope. Our big idea was to give the envelope to a friend of our's in Washington. The friend, Amelia, took the envelope, opened it and went out and bought "pink" or "blue" balloons, placed them in a box and wrapped the box so that we, mom and dad, could have a special moment on the beach. We took the box to our favorite beach on Camano Island (Derek's hometown in Washington) and took our Fekkes clan with us. With beautiful mountains behind the Puget Sound water, we opened the box to watch colored balloons fly off into the sky. Keep reading to see the big reveal!

BLUE BALLONS!!! |
BABY FEKKES IS A BOY!!!!!! So, Derek and I "knew" deep down that our first child was going to be a boy! And we couldn't be happier! Green and white balloons flew off into space so quickly that it was a bit disconcerting figuring out what our child was going to be. But, thankfully, Amelia planned for wind and anchored the last few blue balloons to the box. Here is our immediate reaction! Inside the box, Amelia had gifted us a cute pair of sneakers for a baby boy, blue bibs that said "Baby Boy is a gift from Heaven" and a picture frame of baby boy's ultrasound pointing to certain parts that guarantee that our child is in fact MALE!

I love Tobin's creativity in taking these shots. I bought blocks at a vintage store the same day we opened the box. |

This is my favorite picture...we are going to frame it for our sweet Ezra's room!! |
World, ready yourselves for Ezra L. Fekkes, soon-to-arrive!
