Okay, it's August 2nd, which means in 29 more days we will say goodbye to our home in Korea and make a new home in America...place to be determined. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Lean not on your own understanding. And he will direct your paths." Proverbs.
So, in the meantime, we are going to review all of the wonderful - and not so wonderful - things that we have loved, experienced and been amazed by over the past two years.
First we want to share our greatest failure in not assimilating into Korean culture. The Food. Yep, so you have read our blogs before about Korean food and know that Anlee likes a handful of things and Derek a variety. But, we never go to Korean restaurants. Reason why? Our failing. Korean food is healthy. NOT tasty. Our Korean friend reminds us often of Korean food being healthy and American food being tasty but not so healthy. Well, after two long years, we are still OKAY with that! Thanks to Costco we have enjoyed cheese and kettle chips to our hearts delight. Kimbop will be a regular meal for us in America and we will also venture out to Korean BBQs, but we are going to close the door on our Korean food adventure when we say goodbye. I mean, Derek gets a little tingle in his heart and a tear in his eye when he sees Koreans carrying out bags of Kettle chips from Costco. He is just so proud of the salty, starchy goodness.
Some memories -
Derek ate DOG soup! Hide your pets America! Just kidding. But, really, he did eat it. (Before he met the CEO of dog lovers international!)
Anlee and Amanda used to play "count the legs" in your soup bowl. Seriously, how many legs on one animal can you put in your dish?
Derek will miss the raw meat buffet - endless meat that you cook yourself at your table with sauce, lettuce wraps and rice.
Anlee's favorite meal is Chamchi Kimbop (Tuna). She will be making this for you in America!
Are you hungry now? Hum, we are going to go and eat some cheese!
