Handsome D with me and the book |
For starters, I woke up next to my best friend who made me delicious blueberry and banana pancakes.
To Recap how amazing he is: Tuesday night, we had an ice cream cake with our Bible study. This is traditional birthday food in my family. The cake held a double meaning for Derek and I. Our pet names are cheesy enough to make the most romantic person roll their eyes. One such name is "bunny." So, my cake had a cute little bunny on top!
Friday, my prayer group of amazing students at school threw me a surprise birthday party with a video message, cake and gifts. It's amazing when your students know you so well that they give you stationery for your birthday. It always makes your job worth all the stress. It's so encouraging to know that your job is purposeful! Pictures to come.
Saturday, Derek planned a birthday dinner. More and more people that I didn't expect arrived at the restaurant. I had no idea. I felt so overwhelmed. They all surprised me with this beautiful scrapbook of the last 2 years here in Korea. It's amazing how much love was put into this book. Melidy, the amazing woman that she is, gave out packets of scrapbook material and ideas while Derek and I were in Thailand. People really poured love and blessings over me in this lovely gift, writing letters, scripture and filling it with pictures of Korea.
Sunday, D took me into Seoul for dinner at my favorite REAL Italian restaurant. We also went on a mini shopping spree, which if you know me means I bought 4 essential things: white shirt, black shirt, gray shirt and one spectacularly busy shirt. Fun times!
Lastly, our nephew, Caleb Isaac, arrived on April 11th, just in time to be a belated birthday gift.
The best ever!
