Decision Time

To go or not to go...that WAS the question. I have this opportunity before me. One, to stick it out this year and enter the Peace Corps in the summer of 2010. Two, to move to South Korea for a year and teach English. This was not a decision that I could make quickly, so I solicited those around me for advice and prayer. Most of you have expressed your thoughts on this critical decision in my life; I think you as you all helped me arrive at the decision to GO. That is, to go to South Korea. I have initiated the paperwork to obtain my visa. I will have it in less than three weeks. This is both exciting and terrifying at the same time. With the current political situation in the region, my parents and friends are concerned about my safety. However, when I think about going at this time in my life and with the events in the world, I do not fear for my safety. I do promise to take every precaution to ensure that I will come home unharmed. I know that my God is one of love and promise. I feel that he is going to walk with me everywhere I go for the next year. He will never leave my side. So, rest assured, I am in the most capable and powerful hands.
I am really excited about this new adventure. I have been researching everyday finding new insights into the culture and my position as a teacher. I'm going to be teaching English to young children ages 5-13 for the first part of the year and later on the older children. I am going to be living in a single bedroom apartment with a friendly American next door. Every school has at least one other American, New Zealander, Aussie, Canadian or Brit. As most of you know, I am obsessed with most of these people, so it should be a grand experience. My school is paying for my apartment and my airfare to get there and back. I haven't decided if I will make a trip back to the states while I am away. That is a decision for later. But, I will miss all of you and I love you all dearly. I am at peace with this decision. I pray that you all will be as well. Please help me prepare for this next year away from my family, friends (who are the most amazing friends in the world), my Scotland team, and Wesley, (my home church). I have a great friend, Young, who is from Korea who has volunteered to plug me into a church there, so I am very excited about it!
As I learn more, I will update you and I will continue to post entries from Scotland. It's only been a year!! I'll get it all on here before I'm 30. I'll have a lot of free time in Korea. God bless!

So, it's been a year

It is official. It has been a year since we traveled to Scotland, to the lovely Isle of Lewis. It's amazing how fast time trickles away. But, the relationships that were planted in the short time that we were in Barvas have continued to bloom.
I love speaking with my friends in Scotland. I can't wait to go back to visit with them. I had the pleasure this week of talking to the team while they were in Barvas. I hear that the kids are really enjoying their time with the new team. Craig, Alex and Lance are there again! I hear that Kenneth is loving having Craig back again.
I skyped (online telephone) with the team via Marlene's Computer this past weekend. I was able to hear all of my friends sing a lovely song in Gaelic over the internet. I was able to see friends again: Amy, Angela, Kayanna, Colin George, Ally, Donald, Peter, Maryanne, etc....the list goes on. They were all lovely. MRS. DONNA!!!! But, as always my dear family Marlene, AK, Kenneth and little sister Rachael.
Maryanne showed me a picture of the DRESS!!!! (beautiful, by the way) and her lovely ring...NICE GOING DJ!
Natalie has the chance to speak with the team, as well. I went to visit her this past weekend on Fripp Island off the coast of South Carolina. There, we skyped with the team but suffered some technicial malfunctions.
I'm sorry everyone for slacking with the blog. I do promise to continue the story of how our Father in Heaven brought us all to Scotland and how he changed our lives with his love.
I pray blessings over you all.
