Something Personal

I love my husband. He's a sweet man who daily teaches me about the love of Christ, about how when you surrender your life to Jesus he has the power and desires the glory of changing you into his image bearer. My husband surrenders his life daily, hourly, every opportunity. It humbles me to watch him grow, to see him take every thought captive, to receive his generous love, patience, and encouragement. I am thankful for my husband for reasons that God reveals to me every day. I love being Derek's wife. Learning from him, about him and with him is a joy.

The last three months of marriage have been memorable. The first full week of marriage and we were half the world a part. Reunited back in Korea, jet lagged for weeks, figuring out where to put 5 extra suitcases in a two-bedroom Korean  apartment, learning to live together and sharing a bathroom...if you are married then you remember the first couple of weeks of these things. In figuring out who will wash the dishes, who will wash the clothes, who will mop the floor and who will take out the trash, we have found harmony. If I'm washing dishes, Derek is playing the piano. It's soothing and something I really enjoying hearing while I'm doing housework. If I clean all day on Saturday, he does the cleaning on Sunday to give me rest. There is a lot of joy in giving to each other, encouraging each other and in finding those quirks about each other.

I smile when I wake up because of my best friend sitting next to me. He loves the Lord with a passion that I envy and a heart that is joyful. He's a servant and minister. He's a gift. Our marriage is a gift. This really REALLY big family that God has given us is a gift. Today, I hope to remind myself of these good gifts and give thanks!

Happy Three Months Derek!!!
